Are Thermostatic Showers New?
Thirty five years ago thermostatic showers were used in Nursing homes in Australia but when the WaterMark scheme was introduced in 1988, the Australian Standard and testing required made them cost prohibitive and they were no longer produced, leaving behind a problem and a gap in the market. With Therm Oz, thermostatic showers are back and here to stay.

Nursing and Aged Care homes, wise to the safety benefits of thermostatic showers, couldn’t replace the units they’d fitted when the time came to upgrade. There were no approved Australian thermostatic showers available. As Rob Pond, CEO and Director of ThermOz says, “The old shower units are bulky and not up to industry standards. Keeping them operating—was always a problem as they became obsolete.”
Until ThermOz arrived on the scene in 2018. Their Reno or New Build kits mean that old thermostatic mixers can now be replaced with cost effective and compliant technology. ThermOz is the first Australian thermostatic shower tested to Australian standards AS4032.4 and WaterMark License WMK26224.

ThermOz kits ensure both a consistently safe water temperature and uninterrupted operation even when other appliances in the property are using water at the same time. The showers are sleek and modern in design, can be fitted vertically or horizontally and supplied with or without an adjustable Slide Rail Kit, handset and hose. Moreover, their patented innovation means that they can replace old thermostatic units or standard two-tap showers with no pipe-work or tiling alterations necessary.
ThermOz’s mixer valves reduce the risk of Legionnaires Disease, caused by bacteria multiplying in hot water systems set to a low temperature (50°C). ‘ThermOz solves the issue by allowing hot and cold water to be tempered at the outlet.’ Rob says. ‘Our valves are tempered to 45C max, with a safety default of 38C.’ Compliant with AS/NZ3500.4:2018, which specifies tempering requirements for special uses such as early childhood centres and aged care facilities, ThermOz is the perfect choice for care home maintenance plumbers and new builds. It is available nationwide.

Awesome retrofit shower valve. Even more spectacular support. Our ‘plumber’ made a complete cluster of the installation (its actually pretty simple…) and Rob quickly sent me a repair kit with no extra charge. Easy to repair and working great. We’re extremely happy with our new Thermo-Oz shower.
We had done a fair bit of research looking for an option to convert our separate hot and cold into a mixer. As well as set up the main shower so that it was safe and easy to use for our 5-year-old. This shower does exactly that!
My five-year-old can turn the shower on herself with one turn of the tap. The water heats up for a perfect and safe shower. We were worried that 38 degrees wouldn’t be warm enough. However, it is the perfect temperature. You can make it even hotter.
We ordered the shower through Bunnings which gave us confidence the shower was quality. However, we still received great direct customer service from Rob (Therm-Oz owner) himself. He actively made sure I knew the important information to pass onto our plumber. – The plumber had it installed in under 30mins.
We have now installed a second one in our ensuite.

Wow, very impressed with my new thermostatic shower, i went with the reno kit, found it easy to install having watched the install video and its even easier to use, no mucking around trying to get the right temperature, just turn it on and jump in. My mum had one when she had a disabled person in the house. No cold shower or scalding when someone else takes water in the house. Consistently warm! I recently bought a house with the old style wall taps and was considering installing a wall mixer which would of been expensive and messy. This Thermoz is absolutely a perfect fix, It looks great, it works perfectly and I think it is a great product and perfectly engineered and designed. If you have old wall taps in your bathroom go get one of these you will not be disappointed at all.

This Therm Oz thermostatic shower has given me back my independence. My husband has always had to adjust the temp in my shower as I have MS and I do not feel the temp of the water properly. The temp is set at the desired temp for me. I turn the tap on and the water is automatically adjusted for me. I just have a perfect shower with no fluctuations in temp at all. I highly recommend this product

I have had this product installed in both of the showers of my home. as I had become so fed up of the temperature changing when I had a load of washing going when I had the two taps instead ! this product controls temperature perfectly ! a definite must have in any home !

my comment needs to updating as now I have had a baby. and temperatures of water are even more important to stay constant as other mums in my mums group worry about showering their baby incase of a fluctuation…i shower my baby worry free ???????????? babies skin is over 15x thinner than ours as adults so are even more at risk of burns from hot water ..this wont be happening to my baby thanks to the therm oz !

Had two Therm-Oz showers installed in my house. I have four kids and am constantly struggling for the hot and cold balance for the past 10 years! I had these installed nearly a month ago and I absolutely love them. We can have the washing machine going, the kids can get in the other shower, or me and the wife can shower at the same time and we’re not struggling with burning or freezing. I highly recommend them and wish I had done them 10 years ago when I built the house. Don’t know how I’ve lived without them! Thanks guys.

I really needed a solution to our own 40 year old home and outdated water system. This resulted in hot and cold water fluctuations when showering and screams emanating from the bathroom on a regular basis, when my wife or I would have to jump from either the freezing cold or roasting hot water. I also wanted to see how well the Therm-Oz worked, so I could recommend to clients. Simply put, it is wonderful! It has reduced hot and cold fluctuations significantly, its super-easy to use, looks great and saved me a lot of money not having to upgrade my whole water-system. I will be recommending the Therm-Oz for my Occupational Therapy practice for client issues such as involuntary movements, poor grasp/grip, intellectual issues, arthritis, body-temperature control issues, when requiring carers to adjust temperature, the elderly or simply if I am unsure the current water-system will regulate temperature.
